Quick Tips: Boost Your Business While Building Trust

  1. Network Locally: Attend or host industry-specific meetups to connect with peers and prospects in your area.

  2. Leverage Testimonials: Showcase real client stories to build authenticity and attract new leads.

  3. Prioritize Follow-Ups: Respond to client queries quickly and follow up on leads; trust is built in the details.

These days, marketing feels like a ‘spray and pray’ game plan; ads, websites, SEO, and social media. Reality is, some of the most impactful marketing doesn’t happen on a screen.

It happens in your own backyard.

This morning we talk about when you show up for your community, not for profit but because it matters; you build trust and relationships that last a lifetime.

Welcome To Sunday Reads

This is a brand new addition to the newsletter I am testing. Currently we have one issue on Wednesday morning at 8am, on a weekly basis. I have more to give you though, and Sunday’s were typically a day for me to plan the week(s) ahead, that included things in this email.

Let’s get into it:

How to Make an Impact:

Some simple ways you can show up for your community:

Sponsor Community Events – Think local fairs, school programs, or charity fundraisers.
Hand Out Branded Shirts and Hats – Everyone loves free gear, and it keeps your name visible.
Join the Local Chamber of Commerce – Build connections and stay involved in local growth.
Volunteer for Town Boards/Committees – Help shape the future of your community.
Sponsor Local Sports Teams – Your logo on a Little League jersey means trust on and off the field.
Sponsor Community BBQs or Firehouse Cookouts – Show your support where it matters most.

Why It Works:

People trust other people that invest in their communities.

When your community sees your name tied to events, youth sports, or charitable efforts, you’re not just building brand awareness; you’re creating goodwill.

Goodwill is priceless.

A Personal Story:

I spent 20 years in a small beach town, building homes and relationships. I also did a lot to be involved:

  • I volunteered

  • Chaired boards

  • Sponsored events

  • Cooked at fundraisers

  • Sponsored Little League

I didn’t do these things for business. I did them because I felt a responsibility to give back to the place that supported me.

People began to trust me, refer my business to others, choose to work with me, and remain loyal over time. My phone was ringing from people looking to work for me. Yeah, no shit.

They saw me as someone who cared about more than profits. Someone who genuinely cared about the community.

What Can You Do?

Let’s start with what you can’t do. You can’t fake this, and you shouldn’t try.

Don’t give back just because you think it’ll bring you work. People will see through that.

Do it because it’s the right thing to do.
Do it because it makes your community a better place to live and work.
And as you’re considering how to grow your business, ask yourself this:

What can I give back to the place that’s given me so much?

Must Watch: What To Look For When Buying Lots For Spec Building

This week I am sharing one of my impromptu videos I recorded.

My Superintendent was not ready, I mentioned on our drive to these lots that I “might” record some video, but I gave no warning before I shoved the camera in his face.

Watch below, let me know what I left out, and i you aren’t following us on YT, please give us a follow, most of the videos there are me walking around some jobs, but I have new stuff slated for the beginning of the year that relates to everything we do on 𝕏 and here.

Share Your Own Experiences:

I hope this resonates with you as much as it shaped my own journey. If you’ve been giving back to your community, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Hit me up on Twitter/X where I also posted a shorter version of this:

Let’s build more than businesses—we can build thriving communities together.

P.S. Did you enjoy this email? Forward it to a friend or colleague who could benefit from this advice. Let’s keep building!
